Audition For Summer Academy in Berlin (May 25-28, 2001)

MAPA (Moving Academy for Performing Arts) and Toaca Cultural Foundation were looking for performing artists who:
· have training in physical theatre (dance, mime, movement theatre, acting), preferably on graduate level
· have experience in and/or feeling for innovative theatre
· are talented, motivated and committed
· are willing to work in teams and share experiences
· speak and understand English
· are present without interruption at audition

Participants had to prepare and to show a movement composition of 3 minutes maximum in which they present themselves to the audience performing with an object. The object had to stay in close communication with the performer. If necessary text was used or just a physical story.

The workshop was led by Ide van Heiningen (mime pedagogue, director
of MAPA, the Netherlands), Virag Deszo (performer, teacher, Hungary)
and Nona Ciobanu (theatre director, artistic director of Toaca Cultural
Foundation, Romania).

At the end of the workshop, four participants were selected for the
Summer Academy in Berlin and MAPA Karavan Tour 2001 (August 5
- October 29, 2001) in Germany, Austria, Holland, Hungary, Poland, Czech
Republic, Slovakia, Croatia, Romania.
The goal of the program was to improve the quality of the artistic work of
the participants, to develop their ability to manage their work, and to enhance
the position of innovative theatre in their home country. It proposed a different
viewpoint for artists developing their own projects: not text, but fascination.
