Plasticosphere
by Mihail Tudor, a sculpture exhibition (Nov. 2000)
Excerpt
from the review Metaphors of Knowledge by Ludovic Skultety (Cultural
Observer Magazine)
The
new series by the young sculptor Mihail Tudor originates in a discovery
the artist made a while ago: the very common plastic receptacles
for beverages were to become his new medium. Overcoming the resistances
of the material by successive actions of cutting, melting and gluing,
the works in the show installed at Toaca take us, by detour, to
the core of the creative act. Intimacy with the now tamed material,
intimacy with the process of creation, and, thirdly, intimacy with
the almost organic growth of the figures. In this sense, we can
view the sculptures as metaphors of knowledge.
The
work of the artist is a permanent exhibition in one of Toaca Studio's
rooms.
