Icons by Sergiu Savin (june 2001)

The Russian theorist Paul Evdokimov described the icon as a window through which the beyond becomes visible, as a testimony about a world above us. Sergiu Savin endeavours to recapture that particular frame of mind in his patient and graceful icons. An appropriately pious reserve pervades his work. As he likes to quote: I have nothing to say to you. Go to the church and look at the icons.
